Will digital images really satisfy you? | Northern VA Baby Photographer

Last year on our portrait blog we wrote about the difference between digital versus print portraits. Can you enjoy pictures of babies on a CD as much as displayed in your Broad Run Farms, VA area home? As a Northern Virginia area newborn and baby photographer, we can truly say you will not.

Photography is always an investment – not because it may cost thousands of dollars but because it’s sentimentally valuable. Who doesn’t enjoy pictures of their beloved babies and children, especially years later? Children don’t stay babies forever! Who doesn’t love to reminisce about those cherub cheeks and tiny fingers and toes? Pictures of babies are treasured. Baby photography is precious and invaluable to any parent. There’s nothing like the laugh of a happy baby or toddler!

So, while you might walk past a CD stored in a drawer every day, you won’t be able to see or enjoy whatever is on that CD. Walk past a lovely portrait displayed on the wall of your home, and you have the opportunity to appreciate what it holds. But what does a printed portrait actually hold that a CD doesn’t?

A portrait holds memories, and memories impact our future. A baby’s picture holds the promise of a future, of a legacy, of life not yet lived and fulfilled. A portrait of a deceased parent holds a cherished past, a memory you hold deep within your heart represented by who you’ve become and who your children will be. That portrait represents the legacy of a parent no longer physically present, but always loved and never forgotten.

So when you think of a CD holding your pictures, how can you see the legacy, the love, the history, the life yet to be lived?! You can do so only if you open the CD, pop it into a drive, and open the files. Even then, you’ll only see a small image on your screen. When we think of digital photos, we think of storage. It is one way (but should never be the only way) to store valuable digital pictures as a backup for the portraits you have displayed in your home and enjoy daily!

The benefits of digital photos include the ability to store thousands of pictures digitally. Realistically, you aren’t going to be able to display thousands of pictures on your wall — unless you’re a museum and maybe not even then!

Most of our clients in Northern Virginia are tech-savvy and often ask for a digital archive of purchased portraits as an excellent way to store the precious images should anything ever happen to their displayed family artwork. Their favorite portraits are displayed as wall art in various places throughout their homes to be seen, enjoyed and treasured every day.

If you value the opportunity to both store your portraits and to enjoy them displayed where you can see them regularly, contact us. Our clients come from throughout Northern Virginia including Broad Run Farms, VA. We love taking baby pictures and know that once you see Ever After’s baby pictures, you will be excited and proud to display them in your home! You are creating memories by investing in professional photography for your home.
